ROBERT ZIELINSKI – KIANGARDARUP ALBUM LAUNCH

www.robertzielinkskimusic.com

An original composition by Robert Zielinski for violin, wooden flute, cello and bouzouki, Kiangardarup is inspired by the majestic Torbay Inlet in Western Australia’s Great Southern region, where Robert lived for several years working as a violin maker and touring musician. The piece received a standing ovation at its world premiere in the Perth Concert Hall in May 2024.

Kiangardarup comes from the country of the Minang people, that have lived there for thousands of generations. An evocative piece that takes the listener on a journey, from the awakening dawn to dusk and a still night spent under the karri forest and stars.

Sounds of the forest recorded by Robert and stunning images of the inlet and surrounding country, taken by Manuela Centanni, enhance the performance, giving the listener the feeling of being in Torbay itself.

Robert, violin, Manuela, flute, and Melinda Forsythe, cello, together will bring Kiangardarup to Dunedin.
The long-awaited album, 6 years in the making, will be available on the night.

“Robert Zielinski has given us a masterpiece that is as much a tribute to his West Australian home as it is to the enduring spirit of Irish traditional music” – Stevie Connor, The Sound Cafe, Canada

House Information

Accessibility

We pride ourselves on being one of the most accessible venues in the city. We have flat access through our main doors and staff are more than happy to help with the doors if needed.

Taxis can drop off and pick up patrons from outside these doors and we can order a taxi for you after the show. There are accessible toilets on the lower level and the first floor and a roomy lift provides access both to these facilities and to the Clarkson Studio.

Bar Service

Our Clarkson Studio bar has a selection of New Zealand wines and beers as well as juices, water and light snacks. The bar will be closed five minutes before the show’s published start time.

Theatre Etiquette

People come to the Regent Theatre to have a great night out. So everyone has a good time, we ask all our patrons to be courteous to those around them.

  • Please turn off all your electronic devices before you come into the auditorium.
  • If you have taken snacks from our bar back to your seat, try not to rustle when the house lights go down.
  • If you are late to a show, get comfortable in our bar area until we can turn the house lights back on so you can find your seat.
  • Camera flashes occasionally make performers stumble – over their lines or their feet – so we prefer that you don’t use flash (or any other) photography.
  • Please keep your feet on the floor – someone counting the beat on the back of your seat can be distracting.
  • We encourage you to introduce your children to the arts, but please also teach them to watch and listen quietly and peacefully.
